Call Recording & Consent

Last updated September 28, 2026

When you call a business that uses Two Rings, an automated assistant may answer, and the call may be recorded. This page explains exactly what happens, why, and how to say no.

A recorded AI phone demonstration is available. It is for fictional calls, not staffed support. The actual greeting, recording notice, routing and saved-request handoff must be checked on the exact version callers reach; a passing code test alone does not prove what a live assistant says.

Saying you do not want to be recorded does not stop the recording that is already running. We would rather tell you that plainly than imply otherwise. What it does do is set out below.

What you will hear

The demo opening identifies the assistant as AI and states that the call is recorded. A client-specific assistant does not gain that greeting automatically; it must be configured and checked on the version its callers actually reach. This page does not establish consent for a particular call or replace the business's review of applicable recording requirements.

If you do not want to be recorded

If recording is enabled, it may begin when the call connects. This integration has no verified action that stops recording partway through a call. Objecting does not by itself stop an existing recording. If you do not want to continue on a recorded line, avoid giving more information and end the call. You can:

Do not rely on this assistant for emergency services. If there is an immediate emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service directly.

Why calls are recorded

A note on state law

Recording requirements depend on the applicable jurisdiction and circumstances. A spoken notice alone is not a guarantee of legal compliance. The business must review the requirements for its calls and verify its assistant's live disclosure and objection workflow before activation.

If you are a business using Two Rings: you are responsible for the disclosure settings on your account and for the laws that apply where you and your callers are. We build the disclosure on by default and we do not recommend turning it off. This page is not legal advice.

A note on timing. Updated source code is not a live-agent update. Any change to what this demo says requires an approved configuration change, the correct number/version binding and an actual acceptance call before the website's description is updated.

What is kept, and for how long

WhatKept for
Provider audio and transcriptPer-assistant settings. Intended default: 30 days; actual settings and deletion require verification.
Application call eventsHistorical events may contain transcript or recording-link fields. They remain until an approved review/deletion is completed.
Written summary of the callRetained for service and recordkeeping needs; automatic expiry has not been verified.
Your name and callback numberHeld by the business as their customer record

Retell AI provides configurable storage and retention settings. These settings must be checked for the actual assistant; they do not prove that all sensitive information has been removed. See Retell's retention documentation and storage-settings documentation.

We cannot claim that no second copy exists. Historical application events may contain call content or recording-link fields. The corrected local implementation reduces future stored fields, but it has not yet been deployed and does not retrospectively clean old events or backups. Retention and deletion must be reviewed across the application and provider.

If you are an existing customer and want to know what your assistant is set to, ask and we will check it with you and tell you the answer, including if it turns out to be longer than 30 days.

Who can listen

Access depends on the business's authorized users, Two Rings operators and the providers that process or store the information. We do not sell call content or share it for third-party advertising. A complete historical permission and storage audit has not been verified.

Asking for a copy, or deletion

Email privacy@gettworings.com with the phone number you called from and roughly when you called. We will locate the call, verify who you are, and pass your request to the business that owns the record. We will also tell you what still exists rather than assuming: depending on the assistant's retention setting, a recording may already have been deleted, or may not have been.

Automated calls and texts

If you gave a business your number and agreed to be contacted, they may call or text you back through Two Rings, including with an automated voice. Consent is never a condition of buying anything. To stop texts, reply STOP — see SMS terms. To stop calls, tell the assistant or the business directly.
